This Festival was born from the desire to create an unconventional initiative aimed at developing a film culture, which allows the enjoyment of national and international film talent. It was created by an eclectic team from the areas of cinema, performing and participatory arts, to promote and discover new creators, cinematographic works, reflections, ideas and new perspectives, and the exchange between professionals, students and the general public.

UFECE promotes the screening of national and international short films, reflection and discussion circles based on the reality of those who watch, stimulating knowledge of cinematography from different geographies and cultures.

Um Filme em Cada Esquina - UFECE International Film Festival is a project created by RUGAS Associação Cultural, in partnership with Cidades Irrequietas Filmes, with funding from the Sintra City Council.

The 1st edition will take place from May 2025 to April 2026, with 22 sessions spread over 11 months. Throughout the Festival, the eleven Parishes of the municipality of Sintra will be covered, with two sessions taking place in each of the Parishes, for the school public and the general public.

The sessions take place monthly, two sessions each month, including the screening of films and conversations with members of the Festival's artistic team, the selected films, and/or other invited film professionals. In each session, 3-4 short films by Portuguese and/or international filmmakers will be screened.
